There are still some criminals that are so confidant in their hiding of evidence, they believe they will never be discovered. With the technology we have to investigate crime today, this rarely happens. There are a number of criminals with sharp brains who carefully plan their violent crimes or murders. When they in cold blood consider their crimes it is reasonable to assume that some cancel their plans when they see that they could be suspects and that they thereby risk the death penalty. Even is the death penalty deters one person from committing murder, that is one life that is saved. Next, the death penalty eliminates dangerous and threatening criminals. Some criminals just simply cannot be rehabilitated. They are dangerous; they’ve killed before and they have no problem to kill again. It is people like this that, for the safety of citizens and fellow inmates, they should be put to death. What happens if he has the urged to kill in prison? One of the inmates or guards looked at him the wrong way, and now he wants to take action. Even if he does not succeed in killing that person, he can more than likely do bodily harm to that individual before guards can intervene. What if he escapes? Then there are opportunities and reasons to kill people everywhere he goes. He makes it out to the highway and flags down an on coming car. He murders the owner of the vehicle to avoid being recognized by them. That is one life that could have been saved if the criminal was no longer living. It can in some cases take days or weeks before the escapee is brought back into custody. That can mean days or weeks of killing people everyday. People who recognize him, people who have something he needs or wants, or even people that help put him in prison in the first place that he wants revenge on. The only way to avoid the threat is to eliminate it. Once a convicted murderer is executed, there is no chance that he will break out of jail and kill or injure someone ever again.
