...de the United States was built in London. It involved some operators working at a large switchboard. They would answer an incoming call and then connect it manually to a person on the other line. The manual switchboards remained in common use until the middle of the twentieth century. After the manual switchboards were invented the coin operated pay telephones were patented, and finally in 1923 the rotary dial telephone was developed. One year later, they put mobile phones into police cars, but the mobile phone would not become common for another four decades. With the invention of the telephone as soon as people heard about it they all had to have one. They figured it would be a lot easier to call a person than having to find the time to see them. After a while with the upgrade of a cell phone, again everyone had to have one. However, they were so expensive. To people who could afford one they were so convenient to be out of the house and answer the phone. Back then, it was so rare for someone to have one. Now it is rare for someone not to have a cell phone. The prices have gone down a lot since they are so popular. After the phone was invented the world got a little high tech. Granted it didn’t happen over night, but it happened little by little just so everyone could get a custom to it. Now there are classes that you can take so you can understand the growing technology.
