One of the best things about genetic enhancement is that one doesn’t have to worry about side effects, like medicines usually have. There hasn’t been too many times that gene enhancement has been used, but there is another success story. In yet another genetic therapy experiment there were sixteen heart disease patients who were on deaths bed who received a solution containing copies of a gene that triggers blood vessel growth by injection right into the heart {3}. By growing these new blood vessels around the clogged arteries, all sixteen showed improvement. The treatment was sort of a last chance effort to try and help the patients get better, and it worked. A complaint of genetic enhancement is that some people suggest that the governments of the societies will use genetic enhancements to build a super human army that will take over the planet with these “super human” armies Another concern about genetic enhancement is that people are worried about the loss of genetic diversity. Many people believe that there has to be diversity in this world for it to survive. Those same people also believe that society’s survival might hinge on genetic diversity if our society faced some sort of disease that only a few could resist. In reality though, genetic enhancement in the future will be able rid the world of alcoholism and make a societies children smarter. Isn’t that the government’s job? To make our societies more powerful and more productive are the top priorities of our governments. After years of research, these genetic enhancements would make societies smarter and have an edge on their conservative neighbor. The answer to the genetic diversity problem is that there is not proof to say that diversity is such a great virtue that it could prevent disease or increase the enjoyment in our lives.
