The Somewhat Brothers
...whereas I would not have sacrificed a week of school due to the fact that I would not enjoy falling back on my school material. Another example would be studying, I will spend my time studying in order to earn a high score on any type of work that we do in class. I believe in not only doing a good job on the assignment, but earning one of the top scores. My brother on the other hand, would rather spend his time talking on the phone with his friends, rather than to study for a test. By my brother’s actions, one can assume that talking on the phone would be more important for him than to study. Secondly, my brother and I both know that education is, “the key to success,” but the difference in our views is how important education is. For instance, my brother believes that a professional soccer player does not need numerous accounts of education in order to be successful because, according to him, a professional soccer player is not going to use the acquired knowledge while playing soccer. Just last week, our parents asked my brother if he knew what he desires to major in at college, my brother carelessly says that he wants to become a lawyer. By saying this, he conveys the fact that he does not care, because he obviously knows that becoming a lawyer will take a lot of years of education. When my parents asked me what I wanted to major in at college, I listed a couple in order to show that I still have to put more thought into it. By doing this, I assert that education builds a future, which is not an easy task and requires a lot of critical thinking. Last but not least, my brother and I both have goals in life, but we do not share similar goals in any way. Although my brother and I have goals which will turn out to us being very successful and having a decent living, our main goal is different. For example, my brother’s main goal is that he wants to be a professional soccer player when he grows up because that is what he desires. My main goal, on the other hand, is not related to sports, I want to become an engineer/businessman. In order to achieve our goals, we both ...
