Th definition of community Vs. individualism

...on’t feel or think the same way as everyone else. Another example of community vs. individualism is when the missionaries (of the Christian faith) first arrived in Umuofia (a city were Okonkwo lived) they tried to cross people of that community over to the Christianity religion telling them that they should only believe in Christ and not believe in polynomial (believing a numerous amount of gods). The point of this was to get some the people from the Igbo tribe and the city Umuofia to start thinking as individuals instead of a society as a whole. To get the thinking that there is more to worldly, not to just limit their minds to what way of life they know. However, in real life during this time the same thing was going on but it was called slavery and it was changed the people of Africa from individuals into a community. Even though, the Constitution banned importation (Article I Section9) of slaves in 1808, this didn’t affect the slaves already in the United States or slaves that were yet to be born in the United States (until 1865 when slavery ended). But how this situation connects with the missionaries invading the town (of Umuofia) is that, the masters of the slaves came in and invaded the people of Africa by coming and taking them (the people of Africa) to another country (but the only difference is that they were going from individuals to a community instead of the book going from community to individualism). To tell them that they have to clean, cook, work, become someone’s mistress on the side, change their religion to Christianity and that you have to through all your old beliefs and way of doing things out the window (whereas you can’t talk about or practice any of your old religion or ways of life). And that you have to be under the rule of one man (whose was called master) who runs their (slaves) community. Also, an example of the Igbo tribe the man is the ruler of the house; like he has the first and final say (whatever he says goes). This is a form of a community because , whatever the man tells his family or whatever he tells his family to their going to do it as whole . For example, Okonkwo is the head of his family even though he runs his family with the fear of abuse (verbal and physical abuse). Like when his second wife went to get her hair braided and left her children with Okonkwo’s first wife, his second wife didn’t come back in time to cook the children’s and Okonkwo’s dinner . So when she (Okonkwo’s second wife) came back home Okonkwo beat her severely for not cooking his meal or for not feeding the children. That’s like when a house slave didn’t cook the in time for dinner or didn’t cook the food to their master’s taste, they (slaves) would get punished for it. “….On my refusing to eat, one of them[white men] held me fast by the han...
