...e religion. Beliefs depends on people and nobody can critisize another for being a worser Christian or Muslim. For instance; the Pope and Roman Catholic church have always said that it is not to make abortion. On September 8th 2003 a priest was executed for murdering a doctor and a security guardat a legal abortion clinic. By doing this he disobeyed the rule of Christianity ‘Don’t kill’. In my opinion there can not be a logical cause of this event because even if he was against abortion and if he was a good Christian how could he disobey the ‘Don’t kill’ rule. I disagree with the author I do not think that this is all about religion but also the people itself. The only cause of these kind of events can not be religion itself. These are done under the guise of religion. The obssesive beliefs about religion and also some pschologicall illnesses may cause these. Thirdly Holy Wars are caused by the wrong interpretation of religion and the people using religion for their benefits. For instance Islam was spread by armies; Christianity invented the notion of the crusade.All of these king of armies are told that God is on their side but while they are believing in this, they killed people. How can God cause this? People killed the other by believing that God is defending behing him but certainly there were nothing to do with God or religion in this issues. It is only about having the power of another country. So the leaders directed people wrongly by religion for their own benefits. The writer gives many examples about this wrong threatment of leaders. For instance;’ In India the ancient mosque of Ayodhya was destroyed by Hindu fanatics because they believed that the site of it ‘belonged’ to Hinduism.’ (Enemies of Promise, p39). I totally agree with the author about this idea; these land power or any material issues can do nothing with God so religion is used as tool. Forthly; people are not equal in religions; religions are not democratic. The writer focuses on two major obstacles to equality and freedom. Some religions have strict rules about equality like Hinduism based on a caste system. These kind of hierarchies causes people to be unequal. All of the religions have some hierarchies.
