Movie critique on “O Brother Where Art Thou”
...god, Poseidon. Through his quest, Odysseus encountered several temptations and difficulties. The movie created the same path for Ulysses. Ulysses was also a man cursed by his pride in pursuit of hidden money that created dilemmas. In addition to being pursued by the authorities, they encounter a variety of unsavory characters who are interested in robbing them or turning them in. Both of the character, Odysseus and Ulysses had a great adventure and came to an understanding of their faults. The movie kept the same plot, but characters were replaced with ordinary creatures. However, these characters maintained their original imagery through hidden symbolism. Coen’s imaginative creation gave a hilarious twist to the character: Odysseus, Polyphemus and the Circe. Odysseus, a man of charm was well played by George Clooney. Odysseus charm is seen through Ulysses’ good looks and his vanity. Cyclops son of Poseidon, Polypehmus, a mythic form of a one eye giant sheepherder was played by a bible salesman. The giant’s appearance as a one eyed creature was maintained by the use of an eye patch. It also indicates his task a sheepherder as a bible salesman. Deakin’s created the lovely siren, Circe into a maiden who’s capable to transform a human into a toad. Coen’s created a brilliant connection of the characters from the tale, but element of their setting was a little bit too far fetch and inconsistent It’s a period of a Great Depression in the state of Missis...
