...e shapes expressed in the work are geometric since there are many circles, ovals (leaves), and shapes of the human anatomy. The geometric shapes are softened to achieve a less rigid image. MASS: The type of mass in the work is a two dimensional mass, because the mass is implied. In “The Love Embrace……” the work gives the appearance of mass because of the way the shapes and lines are drawn; they follow a curvature which leads us to see that we are seeing in three dimensions. SPACE: The space is two dimensional and contains implied depth. The implied depth is achieved by overlapping, vertical placement, and changing the size of objects. The overlapping is obvious in the work since all objects are placed in a way that they end up at different levels (vertical placement) on the painting.
