The Day I Shot My First Deer
...the field near the woods. We set our chairs up in a natural ground blind of corn stalks and loaded our shotguns. Tony was sitting about 4 feet to the left of me. He was going to get any deer on his left and I was going to get any on my right. This way we could cover the whole woods line. Two hours had passed without any sign of deer and it was getting dark, so we decided to start heading back to the trucks. As we were heading back, Tony saw a doe standing near the corner of the woods. He told me to take a shot on it and he would back me up if I missed. So I took aim and pulled the trigger. To my amazement I misjudged the distance between me and the deer and had shot over it’s back.
