...ld argue that swans don’t sing. I would not be the one to disagree with that fact, but because of the direction the author chose, “A swan sings only once before it dies”, is perfect. If there was another ending to the poem, I don’t believe it would be enjoyed as much. The original ending to the poem, “More geese than swans not live, more fools than wise,” doesn’t make sense to me. The meaning is understandable, but for this poem, it is not right. I feel that the author was off base with the ending. One minor change to the poem, the last line, and it would have been great. The other option, “I leave the water now for heavenly skies,” is a nice ending. It makes the poem sound happy. The ending would make the audience think that the swan h...
