These DJs mixed reggae albums with other albums into single works. • Jamaican-born DJ Kool Herc, who relocated to new york was the first major pioneer of modern day DJing. • Kool Herc was the first DJ to buy two copies of the same record for just a 15-second break (rhythmic instrumental segment) in the middle. By mixing back and forth between the two copies he was able to double, triple, or indefinitely extend the break. Basically by using two turntables he was looping. • Another pioneer of modern day DJing was Grand Wizard Theodore.
