homeostasis

The constancy of conditions, particularly the internal environment of birds and mammals is known in biology as homeostasis. In humans, four matters are always kept in homeostasis. They are blood glucose concentration, pH of blood, blood pressure, and blood temperature. Acidity in blood plays a major role in our body. If the pH of the body gets too low or too high, death may occur. Fortunately, we have buffers in the blood to protect us against large changes in pH. The buffers in the blood maintain the proper chemical composition in our body. In order to maintain the proper chemical composition inside the cells, the chemical composition of the fluids outside the cells must be kept relatively constant.
