I also agree to proposal of some solons for uniform tax on all cigarette brands, because if low coast brands will have a lower increase in tax so those who are using brands with higher tax will shift to brands with lower tax. So health problems brought about by cigarette smoking will still be prevalent. 4. If this proposal be implemented there will be less smokers in our country therefore there will be more smoke free zone and a healthier air to breathin. 2. Closing tax leaks and additional effort on the part of the Bureau of Internal Revenue. If this proposal will be implemented I do believe that whatever the amount that can be collected, and I’m pretty sure it will be a lot of money, will have a great effect in rebuilding our economy. Our government must hunt for those big tax evaders. They owe our government millions of pesos and there are lots of them. These are the people who have lots of money, with big businesses and huge corporations. These are the people who are capable of paying their tax. But most of the time when greed and self centeredness rule they tend to do something illegally in order not to pay the exact amount due as their tax. Our government should also be vigilant to all government officials who illegally stuffing them selves with tax payer’s money. They should go for those government officials with questionable assists. Those with big mansions and luxurious cars, those who travel in and out of the country several times a year, and those who live like kings. It’s so unfair for the honest taxpayers to see that the money they paid in taxes, will just go to the pockets of our dishonest government officials. If our government deal with all of these, without giving favors to friends and relative and be vigilant to all government officials may be we don’t have this kind of crisis. 3.Imposession of new taxes or increasing current taxes In my opinion this proposal is not necessary as long as our government curb its wasteful spending due to inefficiency and corruption. Our government effort of curbing the use of government vehicles into all official purpose only is good. It’s been a public knowledge ever since, that government vehicles are used as personal car by some government official and their families. I have seen in the news that red plated cars bringing children to and from the school. Wives and children of this officials use this cars when they go shopping or even attending parties.
