She is a supporter of Irish language and culture while Gabriel is revolutionary and wants Ireland to westernize. She is a very intelligent and easy-going woman. Mr. Bartell D¡¦Arcy : He is a singer; a tenor. The song ¡¥¡¦ Lass of Aughrim ¡¥¡¦ which he sang at the party reminds Gretta of Michael Furey and this event prepares the conditions at the hotel scene. Mrs. Malins, Mr. Bergin, Mr. Kerrigan, Miss Daly, Miss Power, Miss Furlong, Miss O¡¦Callaghan, Mr. Browne : They are minor characters who have the role of improving the party scene. Their conversations add to the scene and help to construct a moving plot. They are not fully developed by James Joyce but their moods are generally given in the flow of the story.
