American Dream
...business era; it created many hopes for the lower working class. It gave the dream and made them felt that they still had the chance to become rich. And this dream stayed with American till now. Many people from other country still came to here and look for their own American Dream, just liked the old time, all the European people left their home and came to his new land to build their dreams. The other side of American Dream for me is the freedom. The Declaration of Independent issued a principle statement that government must be based in the concerned of the governed. America had always put their people at first and Americans had full freedom of speech in this country. Not only the presidents and the politicians shaped this country but also the citizens. For me, the best example of all is the end of Vietnam War. At the end of the war, more and more antiwar movement broke out in America. Both citizen and congress were pushing about the war issue. Without seeing the victory and the growing antiwar movement within the country, America withdraws most of its troops. This event showed us the power of the people in this country and their freedom of speech which let them protest and made an influence in country’s international policies. America only has a little over 500 years of history. Since Columbus found this new land in 1492 till George W Bush won the election of 2004, many things had changed. Five hundreds years ago, nobody would ever imagine that this new land would be one of the most powerful countries in the world. During this time period, many people had helped shaping this land, from George Washington to George W Bush and the early European and Russia immigrants to the new immigrants from all over the world. All the people made today’s America and they all found their American Dream in this dream land. Not only Americans have their America Dream, so does the rest of the world.
