...h of them were deaf to peace. For Tybalt was after the young Montague Romeo, Romeo arrived and Tybalt had challenged Romeo. Romeo did not accept the challenge and he tried to encourage peace between them. He asked Tybalt to reconsider how trivial the argument was. But this was so unlike Romeo, he would usually not have dis-honoured his name, his being, but I can see that he seemed, to talk to Tybalt as if he were his flesh and bones, may be he did not want to disobey the prince’s law. But Tybalt was not yet ready to give up; as everyone knows Tybalt has an uncontrollable temper. Tybalt tried to anger Romeo by insulting him and provoking him, yet Romeo was not interested in violence but he was interested in harmony. I remember him saying ‘And so, good Capulet, which name I tender As dearly as mine own, be satisfied’. But Tybalt would not be satisfied until he had fought Romeo. Mercutio is a good and loyal friend he could not and would not stand there while his friend and the Montagues’ name were in danger. For the brave Mercutio intervened he said ‘Make haste, lest mine be about your ears ere it be out.’ with Tybalt and Romeo and decided to fight the aggressive Tybalt. Mercutio as usual was his over confident self as was Tybalt they seem so alike yet totally different. Romeo and I try to stop this unnecessary fight, Romeo says ‘Draw Benvolio; beat down their weapons.’ Romeo came between Mercutio and Tybalt. At this point Tybalt slyly wounded Mercutio under Romeos arm. Tybalt then ran away followed by his men. We do not no how badly he was hurt for Mercutio did not want anyone to know how hurt he really was. Mercutio said ‘ A plague o’ both your houses!’ I have never heard him be so serious and helpless. He paid for his pride with his life, but brave Mercutio would have done this again and again for he was a self righteous man. It was not until ‘Mercutio said ‘ t’ is enough’ , I thought that Mercutio was just kidding. He even joked he laughed ‘ Ask for me to – morrow and you shall find me a grave man.’ Mercutio...
