According to Gardener’s Multiple Intelligences, children learn verbally, logically and mathematically, visually and spatially, motor and bodily, musically and rhythmically, interpersonally, or intrapersonal. I think as a future educator, it is important to teach to all styles to learning. I also think that any lesson plan can include a large array of variety of activities incorporating each style of learning to meet all students’ needs. According to Jean Piaget, children develop in stages. It is important to be aware of these stages. The four main stages children go through are the sensory-motor stage, preoperational stage, concrete operational and formal operational. These stages affect the way teachers construct our lessons and the activities we prepare for the students. According to another educational psychologist, Lev Vygotsky, children interact with culture and the world around us. He believed that children should always learn in a zone of proximal development in which students can achieve tasks with the assistance, yet are challenged.
