Matrix
...ould not last long even though it would be very painful for us. If I had the option there of being killed slowly and painfully, and being enslaved as a battery and not going what was going on, I would choose to be a battery and live my life throughout the Matrix. The world that we live in now is like nothing of the world of their time. There is nothing left that we enjoy however in the Matrix it has everything that we cherish from this world. The Matrix has everything from the natural world that was no longer left after we went through and destroyed our planet. There are the natural elements like trees, birds, animals and most importantly the sun. These are the objects that make the world worth living and you would only be able to get them in the Matrix, because in real life everything is all gone. So you have to choose between a beautiful and wonderful place full of colors and beautiful sights, or a dank, dark, bleak world. There is no food, no light and pretty much no hope. If everyone looked at it this way, I doubt it would be a hard decision for most people to make. When Neo was offered the red pill, they say he was offered freedom. I believe that if he had stayed in the Matrix, he would have at least the same amount of freedom if not more. If you stay in the Matrix, there is also a better chance of you being able to survive. When you are in the Matrix and you want to go to a movie, you go to a movie. If you want to go for a drive in your car, you just get in it and go. As David Weberman wrote “The virtual world gives you opportunity to visit museums, and concerts, read Shakespeare and Stephen King, fall in love, make love, raise children, form deep friendships and so on” (234). There are hundreds of examples of things that you lose the option of doing as soon as you take that red pill and no longer live in the Matrix. If you take the red pill and join the “free” people, you are stuck there for life. No matter what you wanted to do in your newly free world, the agents will always hunt you. Every time you enter the Matrix to do one of your everyday activities, they will be there waiting for you. When they catch you, and it is only a matter of time before they do, it will not be pleasant. They will torture you until they get the name of your friends and then their location. After this happens, you and your friends are as good as dead. None of these things that the agents would do to you would be fun for you, and being “free” is not worth the risk. If I were to fight for something I would want to fight for something that would make a difference. Freedom for the human race would be a short-lived victory. Yes we would be free of the robots, but without food, sunlight and any order we would be dead within days. So fighting for freedom has no benefits in my mind. In the Matrix, all you...
