This characteristic can be seeing throughout the entire movie from the moment Gino arrives to the restaurant until the moment he and Giovanna crash during their escape out of town. There is a strong moment in the movie that captures the characteristic of natural location, this is during the market scene when Gino and The Spaniard are working together and later on Gino reunites with Bragana and Giovanna. Another characteristic of neorealism is the use of non-actors in the movie. Real actors would be chosen for the main roles while non-actors would perform supporting roles, and sometimes main roles. The reason for this is to create a greater sense or realism through the individual. The use of non-actors gives the scenes much more authenticity of the times and gives the films a special attitude about life. Italian neorealism ended in 1948. The film Obssessione tells the story of Gino, a traveling vagabond who falls in love with Giovanna. Giovanna is the wife of Bragana owner of a restaurant. After secretly being involved with Giovanna, Gino decides to leave the restaurant and never come back. On a random day at a near by town from Bragana’s restaurant all three individuals meet again. After a brief discussion, Bragana (who is not aware of the relationship between the two lovers) invites Gino to come back to the restaurant to live with him and his wife Gina and in return to help out with what ever work is needed around the restaurant. Do to the obsession between the lovers Gino accepts. On the way back to the restaurant the two lovers plan to kill Bragana making it look like it was a car accident. After doing so things do not get better for the killers. Tension rises and Gino can’t seem to deal with the killing of Bragana, he passes the time drinking and laying around. He is not comfortable being at the restaurant where Bragana use to live. Gino consistently tries to convince Giovanna to leave with him to a new place where they can start a new life together, but Giovanna wants to wait until the time is right and they have more money. Gino starts to get disinterested with Giovanna as time passes by and decides to center his attention on other women. Giovanna is deeply hurt by this and threatens Gino with going to the police if he does not come back to her. Gino shortly after this discussion with Giovanna notices that he is being followed.
