She comes to reveal herself to many during the journey of the story. For example, in the beginning it is revealed that she is a poor young girl growing up in England. Then she struggles and wins the queen’s heart by showing her loyalty by returning her glove. Sarah uncovers the fact that she is a faithful citizen of England. Then the hierarchy discovers that she is a theft and is sent off to the king to be beheaded. Then, instead of being beheaded the courtship grants her to keep her life but is sent off to America and is sold off to be a slave for 7 to fourteen years. Sarah then revolts against her master and burns him in the face, and escapes the family where she is enslaved at. She then lies about her identity to the Governor of Virginia and pretends to be the queens sister, and fools the whole town in a master disguise. The most revealing part of who Sarah really is doesn’t come until the very end where she announces her love for Ben and reveals her true identity to everyone in the town. The protagonist in American Princess is a rather obvious character, Sarah. She starts off by explaining to her brother what she is going to do while he is barely awake. She sneaks off in the night in dire need to return the glove that the queen dropped the other day on the street as a way of getting herself to live in a better place then she lives. As the protagonist/ main character Sarah journey’s herself through obstacles and very dramatic situations (as revealed in the revelations of her character), to make the most of her life. Sarah was not fit to be the farm girl that she was brought into. Point Structure Chart Status Inciting Act Mid Act Climax Restored Quo Incident II. Point III. Equilibrium I put the Status Quo as when Sarah makes the decision to leave home, because it starts the movie off and shows her place in life at that point. This shows the audience that she is in search for something. The inciting incident would have to be where she is taken under royalty’s wing and learns to live in a nicer arrangement.
