I think that this was hard to do for a movie like this because they are only interviewing the people who were involved and it is their point of view so the director does not know what is factual and what is made up. The third requirement “ it must not attempt to re-create the truth” the filmmakers did not follow their rule all the way. At points in the movie they cut to a flash back of what that person said had happened for example the recreation of the many ways that the officer was shot. They had different views different actions and I fell that since they re-created these scenes they were trying to re-create the truth for the viewer. These re-creations I think were necessary and were also used to give us the viewer a picture of what was being said by the interviewee it was mandatory in order to keep the viewer from wandering off and to keep them involved in their decision-making. This film however does meet the fourth requirement that states “ the film must appear to be objective” there was a very clear objective throughout this film and it started from the first scene when Randall Adams is sitting in a cell in his prison uniform stating that he was innocent “ I don’t know why that boy lied” they were objecting the ruling that was given to Randall Adams. The fifth and final requirement of Weinberger “ all factual evidence must be as close as possible presented in its original context. This film could not have been presented in its original context because some of the stories changed from when it originally happened until when the movie was made. For example, the boy that testified against Randall Adams said that the only reason that Adams is in jail is because he did not share his room with someone who helped him out. I don’t know if this is the original context or they could have paid the prisoner money in order for him to change his original testimony so I don’t think that it was in its original context but I do think that it was close.
