...on the letters “d” and “u“. The students had gone over the letter “d” the day before, so they were pretty good with it. The students were all little sweethearts, and behaved very well while I was there. September 23-26. Over the weekend we took a family vacation to San Diego. While we were there we made a trip to the San Diego Zoo. While we were walking through my son saw a variety of different animals that he has never seen before. We took him to the petting zoo and boy did he like that! He called the animals in there doggy. As we were walking around we would point out the animals and teach him the sounds they make. The one that he really enjoyed was the monkeys. Now when sees an animal that he saw at zoo he will point and try to say what it is. BABYSITTING I baby-sit three girls. Samantha who is in first grade, Katie, who is in Kindergarten, and then Maggie who is three. I help the girls with their homework and go over it and see if they’re on the right track. I bought a learning workbook for the girls to do. I made copies and brought some over every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If they did a good job on the paper then I would bring little treats for them on Friday. Samantha didn’t get to do much because she is in school all day. Katie on the other hand did pretty good. She always wanted to do more. But I had to help out Maggie a little, but she did real good herself. I tried to teach Maggie how to spell her name, but all she managed to do was write the m and a. Katie on the other hand loved to show me how she could write her own name. Helping the girls learn was a neat experience. It made me realize how much fun kids have learning new things. Joey My son Joey loves books. Especially pop-up books. Whenever he knows that it is bedtime he runs to his books and waits for me to get a book to read to him. While I am reading, I can tell that he is really in to the book by the way he just sits and listens. Whenever he sees a picture of something he knows, he points and tries to say it. For example, if he sees a dog he points and says, “doey” then looks at me to see if he’s right. It seems as though he gets smarter every time I read to him. I bought a book that is about the names of body parts. As of right now he learned where his eyes, nose, mouth, hair, ears, tummy and feet are. I was amazed at how quick he learned that. I have realized that my son is a real quick learner. October 12,2004 I made another trip to my mothers class and today they were on the Math topic. They were adding and subtracting. There are some students who get it after just a couple times of explaining it to them, but then there are others who you have to walk them through step by step, ...
