Why I am Pursing a Degree
...to Administrative Assistant. I ended up in an Accounts Payable position in a company, which I enjoyed very much. I worked had, and tried to learn as much as I could in accounts payables. While working in the accounting department for a home building company, I realized that accounting was something I really enjoyed doing. I learned as much as I could from the controller of the company, who was my immediate supervisor. At this point I decided I wanted and needed to pursue a degree in accounting if I was every going to accomplish landing a good position in accounting. After deciding to enroll back in school, my first option was University of Texas at El Paso. I started school in the fall of 2001, with my undergraduate courses required by UTEP. I was encouraged to enroll in El Paso Community College first with the classes that their credits transfer to UTEP. I finished all the credits in EPCC that transferred to UTEP, and then it was time to attend UTEP. I was looking forward to the experience and the learning. I started to struggle, not with the classes itself, but with the process of enrolling, the office hours, available only during the day. The whole process of enrolling was excruciating. Long lines just about everywhere and for every step of the enrolling process. Then came a semester when I could not take any classes, because they were not offering them in the evening, or by the time it was my turn to register they were already full. At this moment I decided it was time to make a drastic change, I then started inquiring about the University of Phoenix, I liked their hours, and the fact that I only take on class at a time. At this point I realized it was time for me to change, and enroll in University of Phoenix. While I was attending UTEP, I took some undergraduate accounting courses which helped me enormously, since I do not have my undergraduate degree in Accounting. I do not regret ...
