Rasin in the Sun

... Ruth to see her husband not wasting the money on a liquor store. Although these compromises that benefited the needs of everyone came true, Walter and Beneatha were not completely satisfied with the results. Walter’s dream, of owning a liquor store was his way of showing his family that he could take responsibility for something. He wanted to be the head of his house. He lies to Mr. Linder (when Mama was not in the living room) telling him that he takes care of the business around the house. Walter tries to prove himself as being responsible in a numerous amount of ways but has a great difficulty being responsible. Responsibility includes being honest, trustworthy and respectable. Mama tells Walter “I aint never stop trusting you. Like I aint never stop loving you” (87). They both want their dreams to make an improvement their the family. Mama especially wants her children to be happy and content.
