Table 4 In table 4,the likelihood of African American students and students athletes to have a faculty member or administrator to discuss problems with are shown. Of the 118 valid responses who identified themselves as student athletes, nearly thirty-one (N=36) percent said that they do not have a faculty member or administrator they feel comfortable discussing an academic or personal problem with (Table 4). However, nearly seventy (N=82) percent state that they do have a faculty member or administrator who they feel comfortable speaking to about their problems. In comparison, thirty-four percent (N=203) of five hundred and ninety-seven participants who were not student athletes acknowledged not having a faculty member or administrator to discuss a problem with. Sixty-six percent say they do have someone on campus they can discuss their problems with. This data would tend to suggest that African American student athletes are more likely to have someone on campus whether it be a teacher or administrator to discuss their problems with compared to their student counterparts. Over ninety-six percent of student athlete respondents are satisfied with the education they are receiving (Table 6). Only three percent are dissatisfied with their education.
