Critically analyse and compare and contrast the long term effect of the body to fitness training for 2 contrasting athletes, drawing valid conclusions and recommendations
...useful for a cross country runner etc. The same with the circulatory system. This is not very important, but still a factor, that cant be overseen. What a person improves by doing respiratory training and circulatory system training are basically that it keeps your fitness better. It controls the heart rate and the breath within a match situation, training etc. Cross country runner As a cross country runner there are many things to think about when you plan a training programme. Obviously a cross country runner needs to run a lot and also for long distances. Therefore it is important for a cross country runner to train his/her body, so that it is build to run for long distances with the same pace and also to keep his/her breath and heart beat down. The cross country runner needs to train his/her muscular system by doing endurance training. This is the most important thing within the cross country runners training programme. Everything is basically built up upon making the runner go for a long distance with the same pace. The things that help a cross country runner to achieve a better fitness and result within his/her competitions are: More capillaries around the muscles, therefore improved delivery of oxygen within the blood. The muscles are better able to utilize fat as a source of energy. An increase in myoglobin (acts as an oxygen store in muscles) An increase in mitochondria ( the place where aerobic respiration takes place) Also the circulatory system is important for a cross country runner because of the blood and the heart beat etc. Everything in the body needs to be completely balanced. These are the things that circulatory system training effects: Drop in resting heart rate as a result of larger, more powerful cardiac muscles. Increase in stroke volume as a result of more powerful heart. Increase in the number of red blood cells. Increase in the elasticity of the arteries, therefore a drop in the resting blood pressure. Recovery rate improves as a result of the changes to the heart. May help prevent onset of coronary heart disease. The last training is also important. It is called the respiratory system, which basically makes your breathing better when running. This is also what makes you be able to run for a long time at the same pace. The things they affect are: The number of alveoli in the lungs increase. The diaphragm and the intercostals muscles become stronger to allow greater expansion of the chest. Increase the vital capacity. Increase the tidal volume during exercises. As a result of these changes the body can work aerobically for longer. Comparison: Logically athletes that do these two contrasting sports do not have the same needs and they need to improve different areas within their body. If you look at the ...
