Summary
...rillian and Zaphod go into a creator which has a door leading inside the planet while Arthur and the depressed Robot Marvine wait out side. The Three of them go deep into the planet and reach some room and start checking out the computer panels when all of a sudden gas is released and the pass out. Mean while a man named Slartibartfast who is a Magrathian startles Arthur. Him and Arthur talk and he tells Arthur the Magrathians have been sleeping for tons of million’s of years waiting for the Galaxy to be able to afford to buy planets off them again. Slartibartfast takes Arthur deep into the planet to show him stuff. Arthur finds out a lot of strange things from him. Vast hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings called mice created a super computer called Deep Thought to find out the answer to The Ultimate Question Of Life, the Universe and Everything. It took the computer 7 million years to find the answer, which is 42, but no one knew what the question really was. So the super computer told the mice how to make the next super computer to calculate what the question is. The mice got the Magrathians to create this new super computer and to call it The Earth. It would take Earth 10 million years to find out what the question is. The Earth was 5 minutes prior to finding out what the question is, but then it was destroyed. So the Magrathians must make the planet again. Two mice that also survived the destruction of earth find out form Zaphod and Trillian that an Earth man (Arthur Dent) survived. The mice meet with Ford, Arther, Zaphod, and Trillian and propose to buy Arther’s brain, because he was part of the computer and pieces of the Ultimate Question could be in his brain.
