The Celestine Phrophecy(Book Review)
... Wicca. The first insight teaches that everything in life happens for a reason, that there are no coincidences. This becomes blatantly obvious immediately in this parable in that the main character progresses through the story meeting the people and going to the places that will take him through his own personal journey of spiritual awareness through the finding an assimilation of the ancient manuscript. The second insight is actually a way of thinking that I learned in my courses for theology. In the book, it is explained that the second insight “extends our consciousness of historical time”. “It shows us how to observe culture not just form the perspective of our own lifetimes but from the perspective of a whole millennium”. In my classes, we were trained to set aside our own perspectives and worldviews so as to allow the “bigger picture” to take hold. The third insight speaks of a learned process in which humans will begin to understand a theory that all life forms emit an energy that can be drawn upon for heightened spiritual awareness. It is explained that this process begins with a heightened sensitivity to beauty. I actually had a very concrete understanding of the third insight take hold in my mind a few weeks after I finished reading the book for the first time. I was standing outside at my office taking a break and all of a sudden an epiphany came to me unbidden. It occurred to me that the flowers in front of me, which I had seen many times previously, were a color that could only occur in nature, particularly the white flowers. No where else, but in nature can such a radiant white occur - all the Clorox in the world could not make anything man made that white or vivid! It dawned on me that this was probably the beginning of the understanding of the third insight that begins with the heightened awareness of beauty. Unfortunately, I also have learned that these perceptions can fade and every day life and living it can interfere with this awareness. It would take a definite time commitment to achieve and maintain. The book then progresses to become even more adventurous and danger ridden as, one by one, the nine insights are disclosed. From a psychological perspective, the book attempts to explain how human beings have the capacity to use violence to control or dominate other human beings. The author suggests that for the first time researchers are looking at this phenomenon from the inside of the individual’s consciousness. They now ask, “What inside a human being makes him want to control someone else”? James Redfield’s opinion on the subject is that in any human interaction, one person walks away stronger and one weaker. Redfield believes tha...
