The American Family
...mily. In my opinion the change family life has experienced should not be seen as a negative factor. To change is to grow, and growth gives us all a wider perspective on what the world should be modeled after. Bellatrix is one of my closest friends. She lives in a single parent home with her mother. Bellatrix and her mom are best friends. They share a relationship based on trust and love. The mother works a full time job and still manages to spend time with her daughter. They have a small but strong family. Alexis is another of my closest friends. His parents are both divorced and remarried. He has 2 brothers and 3 step sisters. His family has gone through very rough times financially, but they always manage to come through for each other. He is bisexual and his mother is very supportive of who he chooses to be. His father plays a smaller role in his life but still accepts him for who he is. Maria has a family that she created on her own. Her mother had her at a young age and currently lives at her boyfriend’s apartment. Maria is an eighteen year old girl with a family that extends in many directions. Her friends are her closest relatives and with their support and guidance she has managed to become and amazing young woman. Carolina is a grade school friend of mine. She is one of two adopted children in her home. Her sister has a minor case of mental retardation and often experiences seizures. Her parents are both older, but they still managed to raise two fantastic children. The family works hard to prevail over Carolina’s sister’s disability. I have been witness to many problems in each of these families. I have lent a listening ear to frustrated friends who cannot deal with the situation at home. I have heard horror stories about disappointed parents, angry siblings, and hypocritical friends.
