My trip to New York City
...was the Empire State Building. It is the tallest building in New York City and a famous landmark. We rode the elevator to the top of the building. After exiting the elevator at the 82nd floor, a short walk led to the open balcony. The view from this balcony was breathtaking because I could see the city from the top of the building. The view was available in all directions and it was stirring to see the entire Island of Manhattan. We spent almost two hours up there enjoying the different views and taking many pictures. Then, it was time to leave for the evening event of my first Broadway show. The show that we saw was a musical called “42nd Street”. There was a lot of singing and dancing in the show. I had never seen a Broadway show before; therefore, I watched the colorful show with great attention and interest. I was really impressed with the final part of the show since it had a long tap dance and song by all of the cast members. The show was a lovely ending for my first day in New York City. My second day began with a journey to the Statue of Liberty. We approached her by a ferry, and I could see the statue from a far distance. Afterwards, we walked around the Island and viewed the Statue of Liberty up close. We took many pictures, and I will never forget the view of the New York City skyline from the Island. Then, we took the second ferry to Ellis Island. Ellis Island was for many years, the place where new immigrants entered the United States. We toured the old Immigration Offices and observed many pictures, actual clothing, and luggage of immigrants. We were very surprised to discover that many of those immigrants were Russians. Another interesting fact that we uncovered was that Florida had the third largest population of Russians in the United States. After a few hours, we left and headed back to Manhattan for our evening activity. We decided to see another Broadway show. We were fortunate to obtain tickets for the show “Cabaret” at half ...
