The Truman Show
... and he glances at a bum standing downtown, and he stops to turn around and discovers it is his dad, but then a man and a woman carry him off and force him onto a bus. He becomes upset and suspicious. Truman soon becomes curious about his life and how it goes everyday, and starts to catch on to things that seem weird to him. Truman collected magazines with women’s faces in them and he glued different eyes noses and mouths together trying to find a match to the girl he started to love that was taken away from him and he was told that they were moving to Fiji. He one day finally gets the courage to leave for Fiji, but a number of negative reinforcements discourages him but he presses on. He attempted to take a plane but the travel agent tells him there isn’t anything available for about a month. One day his wife gets home from work and he tells her to get in the car, and he predicts that in a few seconds that a person with flowers will walk by, followed by a women on a bike and then a betel with a dented fender. He is correct and she calls him crazy and changes the subject. He gets frustrated and doesn’t think she listens to a word he says. She brings up the subject about him wanting to go to Fiji, she tells him to save up and go. He locks the doors and takes off. Since they couldn’t get to Fiji because they were driving, he decides to go to Atlantic City, but then a roadblock full of policemen and fireman say that there was a leak at the plant and they couldn’t get through. A police officer slips and says his name and he is shocked and gets out of the car and runs off and people have to take him to the ground and then he is taken to the police. Afterwards he is home and gets in an argument with his wife because he has no clue why she changes the subject to weird conversations. She soon gets scared and picks up a slicer, dicer, and peeler all in one and puts it to his face, he then gets it away from her and grabs her and she shouts “do something” and he wants to know who she is talking to, but Marlon arrives and Meryl runs up to him and cries holding him. That is the last time Meryl is shown in the movie, because soon after it is set up for a different girl to enter Truman’s life. Truman’s desire to find Sylvia was all he cared about soon after the events with Meryl. So one day Truman escapes from the cameras from his basement and goes off to discover new land and to find his true love Sylvia. A search is put on for him and no one could find him until the director had the idea to look out to sea for him. Truman was sailing out and looking at the picture he put together that looked like Sylvia. The director was frustrated and insisted that he couldn’t leave, so he controls the weather and creates a storm with heavy rain and wind to tip over Truman’s boat almost killing him. Truman gets back on the boat, struggling to breath he coughs up water and sails on. Suddenly the front of the boat hit a background that looked like the sky. He moves towards the background and begins to hit it trying to brake through. He then discovers some stairs and walks up them and there is a door at the top. He opens the door and right before he steps through, the voice of Christof speaks to Truman explaining to him how he created that world for him and how everyone around the world has watched his show since he was born. Truman is speechless, and Christof is shocked and tells him to say something because he is on live television.
