All doctors must take a Hippocratic Oath before getting their license to practice medicine, the oath itself specifically says “I will follow that method of treatment which according to my ability and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my patient and abstain from whatever is harmful or mischievous.” yet majority wise, doctors go against euthanasia. To keep euthanasia illegal is more harmful to the patient. Multiple religions support euthanasia and see it as a passage way into the next life. The 12th Pope stated that ordinary means of care be used to encourage recovery and comfort but extraordinary means or care, such as a respirator can be discontinued once it is clear the patient is not benefiting. In the Hindu religion if a follower is suffering with no means of recovery and is hurting their chances for a better next life or is a burden to the family then euthanasia is allowed. The Talmud, the book of Jewish law and Tradition, specifically states that artificial means of delaying the death process may be removed. Many religions see euthanasia as a positive means of ease towards suffering patients. To legalize euthanasia is actually beneficial to the patient and others as well. With euthanasia as an option a patient has more time to decide his or her fate, with less rushed actions involved since they would have the assurance that someone would end their suffering if it becomes too much, leaving them in a calm decisive state.
