Other benefits reaped from shopping a department store for cosmetics is the special treatment that you receive. The sales people usually go out of their way to test and match colors on your skin. A lot of them are trained to help you discover your skin type and from there recommend products to meet your skins needs. Department stores simply offer more when it comes down to skincare and cosmetics. There are lines that are targeted to meet teen skin care issues as well as adult skincare and makeup. One of the most popular and a personal favorite of mine is the department store brand named Makeup Artist Choice (MAC). MAC has one the biggest color selections when it comes to powders, foundations, blushes, and eye shawdows. MAC has a color for almost every skin tone there is. Instead of focusing on the t color of the skin, they focus more on matching skin undertones. For instance, undertones can be pink, yellow, red, if the undertones are matched correctly then the foundation or powder will show a truer color on the skin. Less expensive brands such as Cover Girl and Maybelline always seem orange and pink-based, making certain tones appear too ashy. Before I started wearing MAC, I used Covergirl and Mabeylline. Every time I used these cosmetics, I felt made up. My face felt heavy as if I was wearing a mask. The powder and foundation colors really never matched my skin. I had to buy different shades of powder and foundation from these lines because I could never test them first to get a true color fit, but even after a second purchase, I was never truly satisfied. It was not until I commented on a coworker’s flawless skin that I learned about MAC. I was surprised that she was wearing makeup; her whole look was so natural looking. When she told me that she was wearing a powder called “studio fix” by MAC, I immediately wanted my own compact. She accompanied me to the nearby Macy’s department store and it was then I had fallen in love with my “holy grail” makeup line.
