...e ancestors of Shenyang originally came from Manchu, known for their careless way of living on the prairies, hunting and riding horses. And the Qing’s emperor built many palaces around the city, making them the most distinguish landmarks of Shenyang. People there inherited the free spirits and outgoing nature of the Manchu. They love to drink in big cups and eat red meat. When you walk on Shenyang’s streets, they are always full of friendly people and they are loud sometimes, but in a good way. They love to treat friends with lavish meals and greet strangers with drinks and laughter. The entire city is partying all the time. On the contrary Vancouver is comparably a young city, it is quiet and subdued. With far less population, one can easily enjoy an afternoon with nobody around. And the most distinct characteristic of the city is that it’s like a mini globe, full of people around the world. Unlike Shenyang where it’s mostly chinese inhabited Vancouver is an immigrated city where people from various races and backgrounds join together and bring all kinds of flavors into it. Instead of palaces left by the ancestors, Vancouver has among the world’s best sceneries and also some top museums and galleries. Although one may not strongly sense the ancientness in Vancouver, instead it’s filled with histories and cultures many people bring from all over the world.
