...President of the United States is under a lot of Pressure. Elisabeth Eve is the wife of an important businessman, of Rockefeller like importance, and stature, Benjamin Rand. Rand impressed by Chance’s composure invites him to meet the President. Upon meeting the President Chance is asked by the President what he thinks of the bad season on Wall Street. Knowing only gardening Chance replies “growth has its season. There are spring and summer, there are also fall and winter. And spring and summer again. As long and the roots are not severed, all is well and will be well”. The President responds inspired and quotes Chance in his speech that evening. The entire country is impressed with the president, and a media buzz follows. Everyone wants to know, who is Chance? All Chance wonders are if hand he shook is the same one on television. The following day Chance says in an interview on television “I know the garden vary well… I have worked in it all of my life. It’s a good garden and a healthy one; its trees are healthy and so are its shrubs and flowers, as long as they are trimmed and watered in the right seasons. The garden needs a lot of care. I do agree with the President: everything in it will grow strong in due course. And there is still plenty of room for new trees and flowers of all kinds”.
