... Different conferences have different regulations on how early practice can start and how much time can be spent practicing at throughout different parts of the season. A lot more time is spent practicing for college football than high school football. Most college football teams have more players than high school teams, due in part to the fact that most players only play either offense or defense instead of both. Just because the teams are larger does not mean that there is less camaraderie. In high school, sometimes there are players who are just there to say that they were there. They really do not care about the team. These players are detrimental to the team’s chemistry. In college, there are very few people like this because the coaches choose the players and can tell who wants to play for the right reasons. On a college team, everyone wants to work hard to win. The major difference between a high school football team and a college football team is the talent level of the players. On many high school teams there are a few star players. There are players who were raised playing football, and there are athletes who have never played football before. On a college team, the difference in the skill level between the best player and the worst player is much smaller than a high school team because of the recruitment process. College football is the next step for high school football players, which explains the small talent gap on a college team but a larger talent gap on a high school team.
