This management requires that the patient acknowledge that psychological factors are the cause of the chest pain. They must accredit their symptoms to other reasons such as panic attacks, anxiety, and/or depression. However, there are many problems with this approach, mainly patient participation. The biopsychosocial model offers a different way of treating NCCP. It involves educating the patient on the biological, psychological, and social causes of chest pain and how to manage these in order to prevent and/or treat the chest pains. I feel the biopsychosocial model is a much more effective way of treating NCCP. Not only does it approach the ailment from many perspectives, but it also respects the views of the patient in regards to the symptoms they suffer from.
