In the Land ordinance of 1785th a policy was established for surveying and selling western land, also in this document a policy was found to set aside one section of land of each town for public education. In the North West Land ordinance of 1787th an ordinance law was set up that had rules for creating new states, as well as prohibiting slavery in North West regions. In Document “D” written by John Jay, he gives instructions for United States minister to Great Britain. In his instructions John Jay asks for things that a power that has more control and strength would ask for. John Jay through a minister asks for insistence that united States is to be put in possessions of all posts and territories which used to be British. Through this document we can outline that the articles of Confederation did play a heavy role in the ways a government was to be worked as. Under this accomplishment United States had a strong government which allowed them to win the war. Document “E” illustrates to us the Western ceded lands by the States. By looking at the map two conclusions can be drawn, one that the government was working under a controlled system that made possible something like this, and two that the North western along with the Land ordinance of 1875th were practiced and had a result. But the articles weren’t perfect and had Financial, Foreign, and Domestic problems. The war debts were unpaid due to that the government had no power to collect taxes and only could request donations by the states. Foreigners had little respect for a nation that couldn’t pay off its debt along with working with a crisis. Due to this Britain and Spain threatened to take advantage by expanding into the western lands after the war ended. Domestically the government had no power to enforce its laws.
