Personal Statement
...days passed, I felt I had lost sense of my career direction in those flat and mechanical conditions. What can I gain from my job? The answer is to instead pave the way for achieving the goal of my life. At the end of 2000, I resigned from the bank and came to Xiamen, a beautiful seaside city in the south of China and one of the economically special districts. Fortunately, I was successfully enrolled into Ping An Life Insurance Company of China, Xiamen Branch. It is one of the most successful insurance companies in China. It made me believe that I could gain many opportunities in this whole new world. Working in the Department of Bancassurance, which is a new sale model and aims at the full utilization of the potential of banks to develop tremendous customer market by providing insurance services in banks, I was one of pioneers in charge of insurance services in a Chinese Bank. I was promoted from a seller representative to the manager by a chance opportunity. Once in a staff training session, the general manager suddenly asked, ‘who can teach the lesson?’ After a long silence, I stood up and came to the platform. That lesson was about ‘the experience of European Bancassurance ’, and due to my professional knowledge and appropriate work experience in the bank, my presentation was very successful. After that, I was sent to the Training Center of Ping An in Shanghai for one month. When I came back as a professional training teacher, I began to take charge of the training sessions in my department. Meanwhile, as a salesman, my sales volume was increased sharply and kept the number one position in the whole company. Based on all of these achievements, I was appointed to be the Sales Manager of Department Bancassurance On Nov. 9th, 2001. This appoint gave me an opportunity to show my capacity of the management, fortunately I did not waste it. As a sales manager, in addition to ordinary sales responsibility, my duties included management of whole department as well as recruiting and training sales staff members. I did it very well. At the end of 2001, I was elected as the Excellent Manager in my company; and in the following several months, I managed to lead my team to reach a new peak of sales volume. All the facts showed that we survived the intense competition and became the final winners. Just at this moment, I made the most pivotal decision in my career life: given up my current position and went abroad to study. At the end of August 2003, I arrived in the Netherlands and began my study abroad life. My major was Bachelor of Business Administration. The course was offered by Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden, one of the professional universities in the Netherlands. The reason that I chosen this university was because of the course was composed with half a year theories study and half a year business internship. I trusted I could obtain the farthest knowledge through this kind of study. In the first module, I did my best to improve myself at every subject, just liked a sponge absorbing water greedily. Apart from the major subjects, I dabbled at many relevant subjects, such as finance, investment, insurance and so on. Through studying the course by myself, discussing with other students in groups and attending as many relevant lectures as possible, I really benefited from the process, especially the self-taught skills and the ability to study independently. Based on my studious working, I successfully finished the business projects one by one and passed every examination. My average score was 7, full score was 9, kept in the top 5 in my program. Furthermore, social practice was a very important part of my overseas life. In my free time, I often travel to other countries and attend many social activities, such as visiting Rotterdam seaport, organizing the athletic meeting of international students, organizing the introduction meeting of China for the public and so on.
