Mock Trial Dirrect
...imension 100. Vanessa then accelerated rapidly towards Brett Williams station and crashed on part of driver failure. There were no mechanical errors in her car. The actions of Darian’s car are more ambigius. We know she applied the breaks some point passed the midpoint of the intersection and came to a full stop approximately 100 feet west of the eastern end of the road. Did your examination of the road lead to any conclusions? Though there were numerous tire marks, none of them were identifiable to Darian. It was a dry road, and a common spot for racing. No conclusive analysis can be made from the ground. Even Lindsy White, the prosecution expert, concedes that the analysis of tire marks is a unreliable measurement and in this case, points no blame to Darian. Ic. Now Lindsey White mentioned the alleged screech. What’s your take on the shreal? The screech could simply be a result of Darian pressing on the breaks multiple times. Darian was distracted by the violent movements of Vanessa’s car. He may easily have not pressed fully on the accelerator or just as likely may have applied the breaks many times over… Giving the impression that Darian had “slammed” on the breaks after accelerating. Once again, the analysis put forth by Lindsey White tells nothing of Darien’s response time or speed. At what speed do you think Darian was traveling? The Dimension 100 did not travel very fast in relation to the distance traveled. The crucial issue hear is Darien’s response time. From Robin Avery’s statement, Darian was about halfway through the intersection when Vanessa collided with the pole. Darien’s reaction to the collision would have begun at this point. This means she had traveled about 60 feet and would have needed at least 1 second to react. By the third second, Darain began to apply breaks. This is when the Dimension 100 starts to come to an eventual stop 55 feet west of the intersection. These numbers add up. Proving Darian was traveling at a normal speed, and simply reacted to Vanessa’s unfortunate accident. Mrs. White claims that Darian would not of needed long to react, how do you respond? She forgets that Darian reported that he had looked over at Vanessa car before the impact. In that case, not only was Darians reaction slower, but Darain could not have been accelerating very fast before applying the breaks at the opposite end of the intersection. People gener...
