censorship and the internet
...internet is usually inlimited,so it is easy to access, and that many children confessed they had already seen inappropriate materials.However,it is unreasonable to restrict children to access to the internet,just because of the existence of inappropriate materials.In general, the internet is significantly useful for intellectual freedom,but it will be not so beneficial because of the limitation of censorship.For example ,according to Sexton(Johnson,D,1998:2),when students did research on poet Ann…….. Therefore, internet censorship is not needed.In other words, Internet should be considerably useful because it means free, massive and easily obtainable information. The second area to be compared is the responses to the internet censorship.The public suggest that censorship could be needed to keep children from inappropriate materials. Even parenets asserted that it was their responsibility to care for their children when they were on internet .On the other hand,a substantial proportion of young people can not accept internet censorship because they think that it is not necessary for them to be protected from seeing information which they want to see on the internet.In addition,according to Allbon&Williams(2002:2),it is believed by many parents that their children use the internet sensibly.It should be considered that children need freedom ,responsibility and training to learn to make good decisions for themselves(Johnson,1998:4)_ Fewer opportunities to recognize the reality of society result from internet censorship .It is suggested that many inappropriate materials are blocked because of Internet censorship.
