Rights and wrongs of our own society allowing so much homelessness

... a result of their own actions, this doesn’t mean that they don’t need help getting back on their feet. Everyone sometimes needs help, no one is perfectly self-dependent. It just happens that these people need help with finance and housing. Also, not all homelessness is self-inflicted. There are a lot of reasons that someone might have run away or thrown out of their house by parents, partners or landlords. They might have been suffering from domestic violence, themselves or those around them might have been on drugs, pregnancies that are unwanted by family members, the list of possible reasons are endless. There may be many reasons but there seems to be a very large lack of solutions to these problems. What are the options? Stay homeless, or, well, stay homeless, nothing really can be done at the moment. Why don’t they get jobs? Would you give a jobs to someone who looked a complete mess, and that’s putting it nicely. Having to sleep in your clothes, never getting changed or rarely getting washed would leave you looking scruffy and smelling far from nice. The hostels that are available have no way near enough places to accommodate everyone that needs one. Some aren’t even sanitary, some research into some of the hostels showed that at least a few weren’t fit to live in. So if you cant get a job and earn and save up money for a house, or even stay in a shelter, were back to the streets again. They are looked down on for living there, but does anyone actually do anything about it? No, it’s a simple answer, there may be the odd organisation that help them during the winter when it’s the hardest for them, but there doesn’t seem to be anything else. Money, it comes and it goes, we never really think of it as a big deal, loosing a bit in the bookies or spending money on the lotto, that we all say is fixed when none of our numbers come up. So why not give some money to the homeless, those who need it, not big companies that try to get every penny that they can out of you. People pay a few quid more on something so that they can say they have something better than others, they have a lot that’s better than those on the streets. A house for a start, a job if you want one, warmth, food, the love of those around you, we all take them for granted, but would you be able to cope without them? I no I wouldn’t, but homeless people have to learn how to. How to let it roll off their back when someone tells them that they should get their act together and sort themselves out, I bet those who say it wouldn’t be able to either. There should be for available to those who have to live on the streets. Putting them into bed and breakfasts does get them off the streets but it doesn’t really help them if you think about it. One bathroom, one kitchen between them and everyone else that is staying there, its not helping them live independently, which is what they need. They need to know that they can live on their own and not make the same mistakes again. Some people, like those who have been in jail for a long time, don’t know how to live by themselves and provide for themselves. This leads into a downward spiral and they to end up on the streets. With all these different reasons, there seems to be a lot of homeless people, but you don’t really see them. Most go to somewhere bigger, were there are more like themselves. Others stay were they are, but why don’t we notice them? They’re there, but we just don’t notice...
