The Pool

... mats on my feet and i see my co-workers in the office. The office is a bright orange color like a sunset on a warm summer night. It's walls and desk are covered with layers of paint. The back wall is filled with metal baskets that are used to hold the swimmers' belongings. Underneath each basket is a number so we stay organized and know whose basket is whose. Right next to the desk are shelves with candy and the radio that plays throughout the pool. We sell the candy to make a profit but most of the time us lifeguards it some of it. The radio is placed on the highest shelf so we have to stand on a stool to reach. In the office there are 2 more doors going into the locker rooms. The men's and women's are the same but just on opposite ends of the building. In them there are 4 long benches and a couple of dressing rooms blocked off by shower curtains. As i walk further in, there are showers and a few bathroom stalls. Most of the time the showers don't work and if they do they're either burning hot or freezing cold. The smell of the locker rooms smell like Pine-sol from cleaning earlier that day. Cold water squishes through my toes as my sandals get drenched from the water. There are drains scattered all over the floors but the ones in the women's doesn't work very well. The walls and floors are also painted but instead of orange, it's in a light blue.
