...cidences is that they were all flight related and all of the victims were citizens of Arab descent. The evidence supporting each argument is not convincing because the author does not give the accused the opportunity to state their opinions and concerns. Also, the article is biased and his statements of support are too broad to identify with. In the students’ opinion, the author has not grasped the concept of discrimination because these clients are justly detained for security reasons and so are other passengers as described by the author such as the white Seminarian mentioned who was armed with hand grenades attempting to board a plane. Ultimately, the pill is easier to swallow when you learn that your loved one has been killed in a plane explosion as a result of mechanical malfunction opposed to being the victim of a vicious act inflicted by a rebel with a cause. Husseini’s concept of discrimination is minor comparative to what other nonwhite nationalities has experienced in many countries. The reader argues that the author should view the airlines acts as utilitarianism, meaning that the airline is doing the greatest good for the greatest amount. Therefore, discrimination is not inflicted when a few passengers are detained in the airport if you are attempting to protect the lives of hundreds or thousands. The autho...
