...sts soaring, it really made me think about it. I was used to taking heat for granite, my parents had always paid the bills. But when I began thinking about this issue, I realized I’d be going to college in a year and I, too, would have to worry about being able to make monthly heating payments. Some of the issues I chose to some people may seem unimportant, such as the first kidney transplant-being arranged on the internet-being performed, but to me it shows we are making progress on issues that may raise ethical questions. This, in turn, starts the process of possibly finding a way to do things in a better, more ethical way. When looking at the variety of topics I chose to write about I chose issues dealing with either ethical issues or economic issues. I feel after the 9/11 attacks and our economy had declined, the economy and its recovery, or the additional depletion of it is an increasingly important issue. In my opinion, most people don’t realize how important certain issues of oil prices rising and acid rain is. When I chose issues, I chose more social issues, rather than economic or political issues because I think they are more important. In my mind, they become more important because these issues relate most directly to our lives, although certain economic issues can be related to a greater mass of people. When looking for articles, I chose straight news stories. I feel the advantages to these stories are that the stories are straight foreword. They tell you how something is with the facts and you don’t have to try to find out the meaning of the story or draw a conclusion from someone else’s opinion. By choosing articles with the facts in them, I could draw factual conclusions from them; if I had chose an article based on someone else’s opinion, it wouldn’t have been completely...
