TRIPLE “R” SOUL

...nd the ordinary waste to a landfill. Unfortunately, the waste is not screened, so if you put recyclable material in with your general waste, it will go to the landfill and not be recycled. What a waste! Instead of having this happen, it is a matter of a few seconds to throw something in a recycling bin instead of the garbage bin. This reduces our reliance on landfills and incinerators. (Rhetorical Question) Just one quart of motor oil can contaminate one million gallons of water. That is a lot! I consider you think before you throw that paper into the garbage bin. The population of the world produces billions and billions of waste material in a week. If recycling is increased, it would conserve our natural resources because it reduces our need for new raw materials. This means less trees would have to be cut down. The more energy which is saved, the more we can use it for more useful things, such as finding cures for diseases and other medical related problems. Making new paper from old paper uses 60% less energy than it would from making it from a freshly cut tree. Using up too much energy brings us to the next factor: money! Recycling doesn’t require a lot of money. We throw away 27 billion glass containers each year. It is just very sad that a lot of people don’t know that glass is...
