Banned Books

It is often argued that a particular book needs to be banned do to the messages it may be sending to readers that could either be inappropriate or controversial. The subject of the book can range from any number of topics including racism, statements against a specific religion or culture, or even just a strongly opinionated and biased book. The books listed above were all geared towards young adults, and the people who believed that the books should be banned felt that the topics of the books were not suitable for teenagers. As American citizens, the freedom of speech is one of the most important rights that we have. The banning of books directly goes against the constitution. Because people are permitted to read or not read whatever writings they want, the banning of books should not be allowed. Despite the fact that there may be a controversial issue or point, an author should be allowed to write what they believe. One book that has been banned is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. The novel is set in the future, in which the customs of the people are completely different from those of today. Within the book there are many topics that could be argued for a reason as to why the book should be banned. For one, the book directly goes against many religions, and instead of worshipping God, or a god, the people worship "Ford". In the novel there is also no human procreation, and all babies are "test-tube babies".
