...y name Linda. Linda was much younger than Adrienne, and when Adrienne found out she ignored it. Then Jack a couple months later tell Adrienne that he wants a divorce and that he found someone else. Adrienne was crushed but she just went on with her life taking care of her kids. Then later her friend Jean calls her up and told her that she needed to get away from it all. Jean was going to a wedding out of state and told Adrienne to watch over her Inn for her. So Adrienne agreed because she thought she needed time off and get her mind straight. So she went to Rodanthe to look after the Inn. Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 Pages 53 – 75 Chapter 6 basically tells you why Paul went to Rodanthe. He went to Rodanthe because one of his patients, Jill died and the reason for her death is unknown. The dead patient’s husband, Robert tries to sue Paul because he thinks that Paul messed up on the surgery, but the surgery was taped and there was no proof of any mistakes. So therefore the case was dropped. So he Robert writes Paul a letter telling him he wants to meet him and talk. So Paul decided to go to Rodanthe to meet Robert because that’s where he lives. The reason Paul decided go because he had a feeling that there was something sincere about the letter. Therefore he went to Rodanthe. On the other hand Adrienne was watching the Inn for Jean and Jean told her that her business at the Inn is very slow and there is only one reservation and it was for a Paul Flanner, so there shouldn’t be much of a problem for Adrienne. Soon the two, Adrienne and Paul met. It was awkward at first but soon began to loosen up and got to know each other. That led to chapter 7. They began talking over dinner and there is some sort of chemistry between the two. They got to know each other and began to relate to each other. Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 Pages 77 – 101 After the dinner the two decided to take a walk on the beach which is just right outside the Inn. They noticed the weather is becoming pretty bad. A huge storm is on its way to Rodanthe. While they were walking Paul is talking about childhood event that affected him and change him. He said those events are the things that made him the man he is today. Adrienne on the other hand was talking about family. She was talking about how her father was getting old and he was very sick. They got to know each other some more and their chemistry began to grow. When they got back to the Inn Paul was very tired after the long drive to Rodanthe so he went to sleep. Adrienne also went to bed, but she couldn’t sleep, all she thought about was Paul and how he made her feel happy. A feeling she hasn’t felt in so long. Tossing and turn she couldn’t sleep and all she thought about was him, but what she didn’t know was that upstairs he was also tossing and turning thinking about her. Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 Pages 103 – 122 The next morning Paul drove off to go to the Robert’s house, the husband of his dead patient Jill. As he got there he prepared himself taking a deep breathe then he walked to the front door. He knocked on it, but no one was there. He then went back to his car, open his trunk, and went into his medical kit. He then took out a little book and wrote a note to Robert containing information on where to find and contact him. He tore the note out of his book and taped it on the front door. As he was walking to his car a man in his mid 30’s came up to him and ask him who he was and what was he doing here. The man was actually Robert’s son. He told Paul to leave his family alone. Robert son was very mad and told Paul to get lost and he has done enough damage to the family. He picked up a shovel and waved it in a threatening manner. Paul got in his car and then saw a dark figure at the front door and saw a wrinkly old hand reach for the note and closed the door. Then he drove off. When he got home he told Adrienne what happen. Now the attention of the book shifts to Robert. Robert was very surprised Paul had come after reading the note. He assume Paul was a stuck up rich surgeon, a type of person who only cars about money and no one else. The story then talked about Robert and his life with Jill, his wife. Afterwards the storm was coming near and Adrienne needed to prepare for it and Paul was giving her a hand. Rain started to pour and the two were putting up wooden boards on the window. There was a lot of lightning and rain and they were both soaking wet, hammering away. Chapter 12 and Chapter 13 Pages 123 – 142 They both got in soaking wet and each went to their room and changed clothes. When Adrienne was finished and went to the living room of the Inn she saw Paul already there warming up the room with the fireplace. By now the electricity was out and they began another conversation. One thing led to another and they began kissing and Adrienne began leading Paul upstairs. In the morning the storm passed over Rodanthe and the two just laid there in bedChapter 14 In the morning the storm passed and with the power out and storm winding down the two was laying in bed in silence smiling at each other. Now the wind had calm down and the two both went to the porch just standing and enjoying the view and each other. One day went by and the two were still enjoying their stay at the Inn and the presence of each other. Until one morning everything was going normally. Paul went for an early morning jog and when he got home he went up stairs to take a shower. Adrienne was downstairs making lunch and then she heard a knock on the door and she went to answer it. It was Robert and he was here to talk to Paul. Adrienne went upstairs to tell Paul the news. He went downstairs and the two began talking. Robert told Paul about his wife and how great of a person she was. Robert’s wife, Jill has a tumor on her face. Jill was very insecure and wanted to look pretty for Robert. She cries every time she looks in the mirror and Robert didn’t want her to get the surgery, but he wanted his wife to be happy so he agreed. Now she was taken away from him and all she wanted was to be normal and look good for him. While Robert was talking Paul was very sad. Robert stood up after walking. Looked outside the window for a while then he was gone. Paul stood up and Adrienne ...
