In addition, certain sectors of society state that humans have always hunted animals to fill their stomachs, to keep them warm, or just as a rural pastime. If our ancestors did not hunt animals we would probably not be here, without hunting there would be no humans left alive on Earth. Furthermore, Blood sports are seen by many as a pest control, killing deer or foxes helps keep the amount in the pack/herd at a bearable amount, leading to less reports of farmers’ crops and herd being damaged or completely destroyed. On the other hand, many arguments against blood sports are strongly turning the pro-hunters’ claims around. It could be argued that blood sports, causes the animal being pursued huge amounts of stress. Running for your life for one to two hours is no easy feat, but after this achievement for the deer it is only made to run for its life for another two to three hours. This leaves the animal feeling stressed, exhausted and terrified. Moreover one fox or deer is usually chased by between twenty to thirty hounds. This would obviously be a very scary experience claim anti-hunters. One point that some people make is that it is not only the fox or deer that suffers. But also the animals used to hunt. The hounds and horses often die of heart attacks due to them being pushed too hard chasing other animals. By the age of six a hound is usually considered to old to hunt and put down anyway.
