He uses racial slurs to grab the reader’s attention to draw an opinion. This is quite an effective writing tool. Getting back to some social response in the present, Churchill descibes that there are some things being done about this insult. Some teams have changed their team mascot to more political correct characteristics. At least something is being done. Drawing another comparison, Churchill uses the example of a German cartoonist, Julius Stricher as another example of untolerated propaganda. This propaganda is considered a “Crime against Humanity”. This man is has been convicted during the Numberg trials. Churchill goes on into some details about Native American history to better help the reader understand the oppression the native Americans have seen. Finally this draws a comparison into Churchill’s closing statements, reiterating the importance of the need to recognize this Unintentional Prejudice. I tend to agree with Ward Churchill’s thesis in the essay “Crimes Against Humanity”. His well-developed essay changed my mine about the way if feel towards team mascots being given “virulently racist”(pg.176) names. I found that Churchill’s writing was very passionate and used some very harsh words. This, I felt was very effective tool he used in his writing.
